GARIMA GRIH

The social significance and impact of Pink Centres empowered PVR NEST to take an ambitious step to broaden the scope of Safe Centers, ensuring safe sanitation for neglected communities with opportunities for growth and development. It formed the ethos of Garima Grih – A multi-utility Public Health Infrastructure.

Through this program, we aimed to provide the government with a unique model of a hub of opportunities where the need for secure sanitation and community skill development could be satisfied by repurposing old facility, making the model reproducible with a potential for nation-wide scalability.

Jawahar Camp in Kirti Nagar got chosen as the first location for Garima Grih. At the planning stage, PVR NEST conducted community outreach to find a suitable place with demand for better sanitary amenities and discovered Jawahar Camp.

The old sanitation facility at the location served 10,000+ households due to which the development of our center had the potential for a high impact on the community. Through a multi-lateral strategy, PVR NEST overcame the problem of revamping the dilapidated infrastructure given and creating programs for the Garima Grih concept.

Inaugurated in November 2022, we are looking forward to garnering 10X More Annual footfall than Pink Centres, pushing the status quo of Safety, Protection, and Health models and building this program to be the next symbol of women's Pride and Protection in the country.
